Permanent Flood Protection Construction on Main Street begins May 6

Permanent Flood Protection Phase 2 work will continue in Valley City.

Beginning Monday May 6th, 2019, Main Street will be closed between Central Ave and 5th AVE NW.

Local traffic will be permitted to businesses inside of the road closure. Business signing will be provided. The contractor will be resuming concrete work on the Main Street roadway. A detour will be provided during this shut down. Truck deliveries are encouraged to seek alternative routes. The road closure is anticipated to last 4-5 weeks.

Main Street will be reopened prior to Rally in the Valley. Additional updates will be provided as needed.

Phase 1: April 29 – June 6 on Central from Main Street to 3rd Street N

Construction has started on the Streetscape/Concrete Pavement Repair project on Central Avenue. The first phase of construction will include the segment from Main Street to 3rd Street N. The intersection of 2nd Street N will be closed during this work; however, the intersection of 3rd Street N will remain open. Phase 1 is scheduled to be completed by June 6, 2019. Central Avenue will then be open to traffic through Rally in the Valley.

Phase 2: June 17 – August 5 on Central from 3rd Street N to 5th Street N

Phase 2 of the project is scheduled to start on Monday, June 17, 2019. Central Avenue will be closed from 3rd Street N to 5th Street N. Both 3rd Street N and 4th Street N will be closed to traffic during this phase. Phase 2 is scheduled to be completed by August 5, 2019.

Phase 3: early August to middle of September at intersection of Main Street & Central Avenue

Phase 3 of the project is scheduled to start in early August and is tentatively scheduled to be completed by the third week of August. The final phase of construction includes concrete pavement repair in the intersection of Main Street and Central Avenue. This work is scheduled to be completed by the middle of September.

The new traffic signals and decorative lighting are tentatively scheduled to be installed in late September to mid-October. Additional updates will be provided as construction progresses. Any questions or concerns during construction should be addressed to KLJ at (701)845-4980.

The project consists of adding decorative lighting, benches, and trash receptacles throughout the project area; curb and gutter improvements along Main St and Central Ave S; installation of two traffic signals along Main St; and mill and overlay along Central Ave S.

October 2 & 3: Intersection of 3rd Ave SE & 4th Street SE Closed

Paving of 3rd AVE SE in Valley City will resume on Tuesday 10/2/2018.

During paving operations, the intersection of 3rd AVE and 4th ST SE will be closed. It is expected that the intersection will be reopened the morning of Wednesday 10/3/2018.

During this shutdown 3rd Ave will be closed from College Street to Main Street. Access VCSU from 4th Ave SW during this closure.

Concrete Pavement Repair – Weekend of August 25

As part of the work being complete on the concrete pavement repair project, the Contractor will begin concrete grinding on Saturday, August 25th. The work will be completed in the following locations: 8th Ave SW between Main St and 2nd St SW, 8th Ave SW between Riverview Drive and the Sheyenne River bridge, and Winter Show Road between 8th Ave SW and 4th Ave SW. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic through the work areas. The work should be completed by Monday August 27th.

5th Avenue NE – Construction Update

Beginning August 6, 2018: 5th Avenue NE

The Valley City concrete pavement repair project will be opening both lanes to traffic on 5th Ave NE between 2nd St NE and 6th St NE on Monday, 8/6/18. The South bound lane between 7th St NE and 12th St NE will then be closed to traffic. All traffic to continue following the temporary traffic signals. No parking will be permitted on 5th Ave NE during construction. All truck traffic is to follow the established
truck route detour. Additional updates will be provided as needed.

3rd Avenue SE Reconstruction – Construction Update

Beginning July 30: 3rd Avenue SE Reconstruction

The 3rd Avenue SE Reconstruction Project is starting on Monday, July 30th, 2018. 3rd Avenue SE will be closed from Main St to 4th St SE. Traffic control signs will be installed on Friday, July 27th. The road and sidewalks will remain closed for the remainder of the project. A signed detour will be provided along 2nd Ave SE. The adjacent blocks of 2nd St SE and 3rd St SE will be closed to thru traffic, allowing only local traffic. 4th St SE and the 3rd Ave SE bridge will remain open with intermittent disruptions. Concrete Pavement Repair Work Begins

The concrete pavement repair project will begin construction on Monday 5/7/2018. The project consists of work on Winter Show road between 8th AVE SW and 4th AVE SW, 8th AVE SW from Winter Show road to Main Street, and 5th AVE NE from Main Street to 12th ST NE. Work on Monday will begin at the Winter Show Road location. The contractor will begin work in the westbound lane. Winter Show road will have a one way for traffic heading eastbound. The westbound lane will be closed to allow the concrete pavement repair work to be completed. Access to business will be provided. A truck route detour will be in place during the project. Additional updates will be provided as needed.
