Police Department

Valley City Police Department (VCPD) provides law enforcement services for the City of Valley City. VCPD provides the following services Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM:

  • Fingerprinting - $30 fee, requires photo ID. Monday & Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
  • Issues Transient Merchant License - $100 fee, proper ND business documentation/licensure is also required.
  • Issues Cat or Dog License-Licenses Fee is $20.00. Proof of rabies vaccination is required.  New animal licenses will be good until March 1, 2027.
  • Issues Kennel License
  • Security Officer Request Form

Crash report requests need to be done online at: NDDOT - Purchase Crash Reports. The fee is $7.00.

It is a true honor to serve as Chief of Police for the residents of Valley City. I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the dedicated men and women of this department as we commit ourselves to protecting and serving our community with professionalism and integrity.

My goal as Chief is to foster meaningful engagement with our residents so we can better understand and respond to the needs of our community. I believe that positive, proactive policing—grounded in continued education and ethical practices—strengthens both public trust and public safety. Every interaction between our officers and the public matters, and we strive to ensure those interactions reflect respect, fairness, and a commitment to service.

We are dedicated to continuous improvement within our department. By enhancing communication, building strong partnerships with neighboring agencies, and sharing information effectively, we strengthen our ability to solve crimes efficiently and serve our community to the highest standard.

Valley City Police Department: Online Responsible Beverage Server Training
Valley City, North Dakota requires all persons serving alcohol to possess a Certificate of Training. This certificate can be obtained by successfully completing this online Alcohol Server Training Course and is valid for three years.

North Dakota Safety Council: Responsible Beverage Server Online Training
ND Safety Council offers three 2-hour training modules: basic server, large event server course, owner/manager course.

Police reports and associated records will not be provided until a case is closed or has cleared the court process.

Records will be redacted in accordance with state law and department policy to prevent the release of certain personal identifying information, juvenile information, victim information, and other confidential or exempt material.

Costs are assessed pursuant to N.D.C.C. section 44-04-18 and must be paid in advance:

  • $.25 per paper copy (one- or two-sided sheet)
  • $25/hour to locate records (first hour is waived)
  • $25/hour to redact confidential or exempt information (first hour is waived)
  • Actual cost of postage, if applicable
  • Actual cost of electronic storage device, if applicable
